I have been creating artwork for around 40-50 years. I had some formal training, starting with Russell Saunders who was a guiding influence. I have learnt glass painting and silk painting through Tobwabba Art in Forster. I have a range of licensed artwork on products that I get royalties from.
I was born in Kempsey, moved to Forster as a teenager, and then spent many years in Sydney. In Sydney, I studied screen printing, ceramics and painting at Milperra CAE.
Jan has worked in Aboriginal health, and had the opportunity to continue in that field or to join Tobwabba. She joined Tobwabba and discovered that she finds artwork very relaxing. I love painting and creating ….it’s my favourite pastime.

My advice to younger emerging artists would be to stay with it because you learn over the years. Paint with other people and strive to create your own style.
