Shelley Monkland

Shelley has lived in Aboriginal communities all over Australia-Urban, rural and remote, providing the inspiration to create designs representing Aboriginal people and their country.

A proud Bundjalung and Gubbi Gubbi woman, Shelley Monkland currently lives in Lismore in northern NSW while she finishes her Diploma in Costume Design at TAFE.

Shelley has been a practising textile artist for over 20 years, using a variety of textile techniques- Screen-printing, Lino-printing, Dyeing-Cold Water, Napthol, Acid, Indigo, Rust and Tannic, Marbling and Batik.

Shelley currently enrolled online at TAFE in the Certificate III in Fundamentals in Design. To follow on with doing the Certificate IV in Design. Finishing with a Diploma in Surface Design, Textile Design and Technology or Costume for Performance.
